CHRISTIE ANN (ERNST) MACKEY (1943-2018)

June 20, 1943 – June 6, 2018 Christie (Chris) was born in Denver, Colorado to Howard & Helen Ernst. Chris graduated from Sheridan Union High School in Arapahoe County, Colorado in 1961. Chris had a passion for her Yorkie dogs throughout her life. Family and friends were privileged to receive one of Chris’ many artistic crocheted afghans, intricate cross stitch pictures to various whimsical handcrafted crafts. Chris had a jovial sense of humor and was a good friend and confidant to many.

Chris married Ronald Owens in 1971 and they had one son, Michael Owens of Lewiston, Idaho. In 1978 Chris married Wayne David Mackey, Sr. and the lived in Anacortes, later residing in Mt. Vernon, Washington where they ran Riverside Archery & Taxidermy and later retired in Miles City, Montana until Wayne’s passing in 2008. Three years ago, Chris relocated back to Anacortes to be around more family and familiar surroundings. Chris peacefully passed surrounded by love and family. Chris is survived by her brother Carl Ernst and his wife Sylvia, her son, Michael Owens and his wife Tanya Owens, grandchildren Hunter Owens and LaShae Bane. Chris is also survived by her extended family Wayne David Mackey, Jr. and his wife Sharon; Brian Mackey, Tina McCarthy and her husband Michael, Renee Mackey, Wayne Mackey III and his wife Sherri, Chris Mackey and his wife Cheryl and numerous extended grandchildren and great grandchildren. Chris was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne David Mackey, Sr. and her parents Howard and Helen Ernst. Chris requested no funeral service and arrangements were handled by Whidbey Memorial Funeral Home.
