DIANE FAYE STURLAUGSON
Diane Faye Sturlaugson, age 69, lifelong Snohomish resident, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 29, 2017 on Whidbey Island.
Diane was born in Snohomish on April 5, 1948, one of three daughters born to Harry and Hester (Bickford) Purtteman. Diane attended Snohomish schools, and was a 1966 graduate of Snohomish High School. On December 10, 1966, Diane married Melvin J. Sturlaugson. The couple made their home in Snohomish and raised their three children there. Diane was employed for over 35 years as a school bus driver for the Snohomish School District, retiring in 2013. Diane was a multi-talented hostess whose greatest joy was serving her host of family and friends.
Diane is survived by her beloved husband of over fifty years, Mel; her three children, their spouses and seven grandchildren: Kim and Steve Douglas of Lake Stevens (Taylor, Drew, Luke), Matt and Tiffany Sturlaugson (Colten, Grace, Gunnar) of Snohomish and Sarah and Ryan Henderson (Grant) of Snohomish. Diane was preceded in death by her parents and her two sisters, Marilyn Ford and Phyllis Estep.
A private family graveside will be held at G.A.R. Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Life Point Church - 14619 28th Street NE, Lake Stevens, WA 98258. Memorials are suggested to Seattle Children’s Hospital, M/S S-200, PO Box 5371, Seattle, WA 98145-5000. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories and condolences at www.whidbeymemorial.com.
