Alyda Grace Celix, age 84, longtime Oak Harbor resident, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Welcome Home-Oak Harbor Senior Memory Care after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.
Mrs. Celix was born February 24, 1934 in Bellingham, to William and Dorothy (Park) DeVries. She lived in Bellingham and Seattle, spending summers with family in Ferndale in her younger years. Alyda spent many years working in banking as a supervisor and pioneer in computerized banking.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
Alyda is survived by her son, Andrew D. Mellors and wife Sharyn of Coupeville; seven grandchildren: Andrew, Barbara, Mitchel, Audrey, Stephen, Annette, and Lisa; and numerous great-grandchildren; her sister, Rosalie Smith (Duane) of Puyallup; also, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sons: Brian Douglas Mellors, Gregory William Mellors, and Charles Martin Mellors.
