Obituary for Leon Clay Whiteside

Leon Clay Whiteside, age 80, of Greenbank, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at Careage of Whidbey.
Mr. Whiteside was born in Seattle on July 29, 1938, to Mark Wellington Whiteside and Reah Katherine (Ritzman) Whiteside. He graduated from Roosevelt High School. On April 23, 1960, Leon married Patricia Louise Matyas. The couple lived primarily in the Greater Seattle area for a number of years. Leon attended the University of Washington and Seattle Central Community College, receiving an AA Degree in the building Construction Technology. He was employed as a building tradesman for ten years; was a Bellevue building inspector (Supervisor of Inspections) for ten years; was a framing contractor for five years. He was also a Contract Supervisor of Construction for owners and developers for 25 years, building multi-family 3000 plus units, office buildings, warehouse metal frame and concrete tilt-up, and residential and commercial remodels. He also constructed six homes. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Leon is survived by his wife, Patricia Louise Whiteside; four sons: Earl(Carol) Greg (Janice) Leon (Myla) and Eric (life friend Natalie); ten grandchildren: Mark, Angela, Ryan, Ashley, Alyssa, Malyiah, Alex, Stacie, Adam and Erik; nine great-grandchildren: Alina, Violet, Kayden, Noble, Reece, Brody, Zoey, Paxton, Jameson; also, a sister Kay Dodson; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Justin.
