Obituary for David Dale "Dave" Butler

Dave Butler was born on April 14, 1950, in Burlington, Washington. During most of his younger years he lived in Marysville, Washington. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1968, and was retired from the Navy after 21 years of service. Following his retirement, he was employed by Upchurch Scientific for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Audrey; his mother, Gloria; his sister, Linda; a daughter, Crystal and her husband, Jeremy; a stepdaughter, Nigell, and her husband, Jesse; a nephew, Chad, and his daughter, Brooke; and grandchildren Tayler, Jacob, Alex, Chandell, and Vicktor.

Dave was a man of few passions. He had a handful of, as he called them, ‘real friends’, with whom he looked forward to hearing from with every phone call and conversation.
Riding his Harley was what he really loved, as well as wheelin’ and dealing vehicles, and living in a log home, which was his and Audrey’s dream come true. Dave loved his grandkids, even though he didn’t always understand them, and he appreciated his sons-in-law.

He was a man of few words, always wanting just the facts, and not the drawn out version. That is, except when it came to swapping stories with ‘the guys’, then ‘the more details the better’!

For a year and a half Dave battled cancer. He was extremely grateful for the care and concern shown to him by the doctors and nurses and staff at Merle Cancer Center in Anacortes.

I don’t know if the world was a ‘better place’ with Dave in it, but there sure will be a hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved him for ‘just being Dave’.
