Obituary for Josephine Doris "Jo Dee" Maserang

JOSEPHINE DORIS “JO DEE” MASERANG
Josephine Doris “Jo Dee” Maserang, age 84, of Oak Harbor, passed away at Careage of Whidbey on November 26, 2017.
Mrs. Maserang was born in Ekalaka, Montana, on December 10, 1933, to Scott and Eva (Merrill) Mulkey. She was raised in the Umpqua Valley in Southern Oregon, and graduated from high school there. Jo Dee loved music and this love eventually led her to meet Herb Maserang (stage name Herb Day), a fellow instrumental musician. The couple married in Tacoma on October 24, 1982. In 1984 Herb and Jo Dee moved to Oak Harbor. They formed the “Herb Day and Jo Dee Duo,” and took their music to fraternal organizations throughout the Pacific Northwest. Locally, they provided music at the Elks, the VFW and Kasteel Franssen. In addition to making beautiful music together with Herb, Jo Dee had a “green thumb” and enjoyed working with her house plants.
Jo Dee is survived by her husband Herb, at home in Oak Harbor; daughter Patricia Latham and son Scott, both of Coeur d’Alene, ID. In keeping with her wishes, no service will be held. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories at www.whidbeymemorial.com.
