Obituary for John Raymond Andrews

John Raymond Andrews died peacefully in Oak Harbor, on September 9th, 2017 at the age of 95.
John is survived by his wife, Dolores Andrews of Oak Harbor, Washington, and his children, Linda Ostro of Oakland, California, Larry Andrews of Walla Walla, Washington, his grandson, Jay Rehor and great-grand daughter, Aurora Rehor of Oakland, California. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Andrews, of Mutiny Bay, Washington.
John was born on June 2, 1922 in Monroe, Washington to Charles and Jenny Andrews. He graduated from Richmond Beach High School in 1940. He married Dolores Swaren from Mission City, British Columbia in 1946. He was introduced to Dolores by a co-worker, Bill Borgstrom, who was the uncle of Dolores and retired in Langley, Washington. John and Dolores lived in Richmond Highlands, Washington and John worked in Ballard for the Great Northern Railroad as a Machinist and Round House Foreman. John took an early retirement in 1977 when they built a retirement home in Langley, Washington where they lived until 2015 when they moved to Regency Assisted Living in Oak Harbor.
John was admired by all who knew him for his gentle and generous nature and his ability to fix and build everything. He had a great love of nature and enjoyed exploring back roads, camping, hunting and fishing, and traveling the world to explore Africa, Europe, Asia, Hawaii and Fiji.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. There will be a family only celebration of life sometime in November.
