Obituary for Judy Ann Staeps

Judy Ann Staeps
Judy Ann Staeps
January 23, 1957-August 19, 2017

“Beside a well, one does not thirst. Beside a sister, one does not despair”
We start with life…Our baby sister Judy joined this world on January 23, 1957; born and raised in San Francisco, CA to parents Raymond and Marjorie Harris. From the moment she came into our lives, she brought an independence and a spirit which lasted her whole life through.
Upon completion of high school, with determination and adventure, she moved to Washington where she remained for the duration of her life. There she completed college with high marks at the University of Washington and received her Masters Degree in Family Counseling. Over the 25+ years of her career she has supported, guided and helped so many families and individuals; the outpouring and gratitude of which has been evident through her struggle with cancer. Her compassion, intelligence, thoughtfulness, love and grace has touched so many lives.
Judy is survived by her son, Rhys Mattila, who has inherited so many adventuresome and independent qualities from his loving mom. She was so proud of him. He will be a great benefit to the community in his life to come.
Also survived by her loving brother, Dan Harris (Suzanne), her loving sister Lynda Williams (Larry), and her loving sister Debra Neville (Greg). Her numerous nieces and nephews will miss their Aunt Judy.
She also leaves behind her sweetheart, who loved her so very much, Jon Schmidt; her beloved pets, friends, associates, and the community she so loved and who loved her in return.
Judy left us early in this life but her spirit will live on in all of us.

“An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle but will never break.”

We will miss you…… and always love you…
